If you love playing poker then ry Indonesia’s version, Domino QQ. Read on to learn more about its fascinating gameplay and start playing Domino QQ in no time.
Yes, Indonesia has its own game of poker. Locals call it Domino Indo, Qiu Qiu, or popularly, Domino QQ. The gameplay is a bit related to a Chinese domino gambling game called Pai Gow. Now, it can be confusing to get the hang of it but once you do, it guarantees to give you hours of addicting and fun play. So, how do you play it? Read on to find out.
The first thing you need to know is that Domino QQ lets you play with 28 double-six dominoes. Indonesian dominoes are unlike US ones. The cards are small and disposable. Players throw them out frequently especially when they start to show wear and tear. Players love using crisp pieces.
Second, players start by putting specific amounts into the pot. The amount varies and depends on whether you’re playing on a low stake or a high one. Once all the bets are in, each player gets 3 dominos. Players look over what they got and do either one of four things. If there is a previous better, players can either call, raise, or fold. But, if there is no previous better then they can place a bet.
Third, for round 1, if only one player makes a bet then they could take the winning pot and not have to show their hand. Should more than one person place a bet, then players who didn’t fold will receive a fourth card. After dealing the fourth card, the final betting round takes place.
Commonly, both rounds will impose a betting limit with the second round having higher limits. At the end of the final round, those players who did not fold must show their hands. And, the one with the highest or shall we say, best hand, grabs the winning pot.
You should know that cards are put in pairs. The pips are then added together. Only the 2nd digit is taken. For instance, if there is a total pip of 23, it becomes 3. A total pip of 17 will become 7. The highest pair is always a 9; hence, the term Qiu Qiu.
You should also know that 3 available hands may give you a higher score than a pair of 9s, namely,
High, when the total pips on 4 dominoes yield 38 and above.
Low, when the total pips on 4 dominoes yield 9 or below.
Double, when 4 dominoes come with doubles.
It’s considered a straight when one other hand is above non-special hands but under double 9s. This happens when all 4 dominoes have consecutive pips. As an example, if the pips are 4, 5, 6, and 7. When you have 3 doubles, that is also a special hand. It’s called a kid with the 4th being alone.
